DESCRIPTION

The BRYAN Artificial cervical disc by Medtronic was a disc replacement device that is now retired due to issues with subsidence and heterotopic ossification. The disc is made of two titanium plasma sprayed titanium endplate with a polycarbonate polyurethane nucleus. The core is filled with sterile saline through the endplate plugs prior to implantation. This gives the disc its height which is around 6mm
